Um, it’s still winter right?

So today I took the Beebits to the park to meet a friend of mine who’s got a lil baby of her own now, so the two lil guys could “meet” (Her son’s like 9 weeks lol!) and we could catch up… It’s beencold here, so, of course, I get lil man into some sweatpants and a long sleeve shirt, then a hoodie over (packed the beanie just in case). We made it as far as the car before I stripped the hoodie off, and my own sweatshirt, because it was too warm.

By the time we got to the park, I was sweating in my long pants w/socks and shoes (thought about wearin my flip flops and had decided agaisnt it – dumb decision.) Lil man was wearin boxer briefs under the sweats so when we got to the playground I convinced him to get shoeless, sockless and sweats-less. And for the record, it wasn’t really convincing. It was like, “Honey, you want to play in the sand n our toes? You want to get those hot sweatpants off?” *STRIPS OFF HIS SHOES SOCKS & SWEATS* Ok, so that’s a “Yes” then? Lol! So – he played at the park, in February, in his shirt and underwear. This is crazy!! Cute, but crazy weather :) He did wet a tiny bit in his boxers though and ended up in tighties, but no one cares on a 2 yr old ;)

In his 'cool guy' sunglasses of course!

Loves this digger, though he can't really work it by himself :)

So my friend and I stood and chatted in the bright sunshiney morning … I held her wee lil angel, who fell asleep in my arms – agh, I want more! – and we watched the Beebits run around and play. It was a great time seeing her, and catching up on what’s been ging on with us since I saw her last. ALSO, since the Beebits hadn’t seen her since the baby was born, he remembered him being in her tummy and so today was the firsttime he got to actually meet his new friend! We sat on the grass together and I helped him ‘hold’ the new baby, and he was so sweet and gentle :)

He loved hs new baby friend and was so sweet :)

Actually asked to hold him a second time too!

He’ll be such a good big brother (SOMEday)!

My lil man and I also had some fun yesterday, playin with chalks… he convinced me to come draw chalks with him and he’s SO demanding! “Make a flower and a duck mommy!” “Make Toothless, Mommy!”

Wasn't really bein serious about Toothless when I started but then by the time I really got into it it was too late to make it 'good' lol!

“Make Larry-Boy, Mommy!” *whew*

I. Am. That. Hero!

We now need to buy more chalks. I really do have fun doing it, but I end up using up all his colors when I play! Lol!

OK, now, remember the SpiritHood post? Ok, you HAVE to see this. This is the Beebits in his (riiiiight.) “wolf costume”! He loves this thing, puts his hands into the ‘paws’ and crawls around – howling at the moon.. it’s awesome! Did I mention that I can’t wait for the kids line to come out!?!?

Sorry a lil blurry, hard to get him to hold freakin still so I could take the pic!

Okay, okay, YES I have something foodie to share too! In fact, it’s the reason I got on to post and then got caught up in all the cutie patootie Beebits updates ;)

I have a new recipe for you. I was browsing my kitchen stock tonight, looking for dessert… I haven’t got anything dessert-y here, so I knew I’d have to be making somethin… I thought about making some babies cause it’s been awhile… but I really wanted something cold, like ice cream, or a milkshake… SO I used the dates and cocoa powder idea from the babies and created something sinfully delicious! Katie, you’d be SO PROUD! AND, it turned out so freaking awesomely that as I drink it, I’m here to share it with you!

Sinfully Rich Vegan Chocolate Milkshake (Sugar-Free!)

  • 40g. pitted dates (doesn’t matter really what kind)
  • 1c. vanilla soymilk (or rice, almond, hemp etc.)
  • 1ttsp vanilla extract
  • 15g unsweetened cocoa powder (I used Hershey’s)
  • 1tsp xanthan gum (thickener – maybe optional, I used cause I had some, but it should still thicken with the ice cubes blended in)
  • stevia to taste
  • 10 ice cubes (give or take a few – how frozen do you want it?!)

Blend all until well mixed and ENJOY! This is the richest, creamiest shake ever! LOVE IT! Of course, it helps that it’s chocolate, low-fat AND sugar free!

Ok ok, I’m off to ENJOY my shake and try to finish a book I’m into … But tell me, have you ever been desperate for a meal/treat/etc and thrown something together that became a favorite thing?! Mmmmmm… I have! :)

My First SpiritHood!

Ack! I finally was able to order my own Christmas present… my first (Yes, I plan on someday having a variety!) SpiritHood! I had a VERY HARD TIME choosing what animal to pick for my first, but ultimately chose the wolf for the versatility of coloring (I’m so nuts aboutthings matching lol, and this one’s got beautiful variegated fur so it’ll match black, brown, grey, white.. it’s awesome!). And I loooooove IT! Of course, my wolf came with a wonky ear but I think, ya know, it just gives it character, right? I’m going to figure out a way to accessorize it, and ‘hide’ the wonky-ness! :) Hmmmm, should I name my wolf? OoooOOooh decisions decisions. :)

These hoods are so badass.
Don’t you already WANT ONE TOO!?!?

I of course already want the grizzly, snow leopard, panda…and I voted for a new one in white tiger so if that one comes out, i’ll want that too! *giggle* They’re totally vegan-friendly, faux fur etc., made by total animal lovers too AND the company even has a thing called Product Blue, where they send a portion of what you pay to help the animal you choose. I love it! Of course, if you sign up for their newsletter you can get news of sales and coupon codes so you don’t have to pay full price (which I certainly didn’t Aack!). They are also coming out with a kids line (hopefully soon?). OMG I can’t wait. Since me and the little man are “Little baby Bear” and “Mommy Bear” I am totally going to get us matching grizzlies. Someday. :)

Check them out, PUH-LEASE! Hey maybe if I refer enough people I’ll get a free one?!?!?! Lol, doubtful, but they’re still awesome so check them out anyway!

Now for some FOODIE NEWS!

In honor of my blogger-friend Julia over at The Veggie Side, I’m trying a miso mayo, finally! I’ve checked this brand out every single time I take a trip to my Whole Foods, but have never bought it to try. Julia tells me it’s totally worth it! However, I just bought a jar of the Reduced Fat Vegenaise (my personal favorite of the store-bought vegan mayo varieties) and so I’m waiting to spend more $ on mayo lol. BUT, I have a favorite homemade mayo too, which happens to have a miso variety option! So, today, I made my own miso mayo!

The mayo recipe is Bryanna Clark Grogan’s, also found here, and of the 4 or so homemade vegan mayo’s I’ve tried is by FAR the best! I’ve only ever made it the traditional way though… so today I took advantage of Bryanna’s mayo-wisdom and tried one of her options! :) I do the stove top option, and sice I only had agar flakes, I use 1Tbsp (vs. the 1 tsp of agar powder).

This stuff is seriously creamy. I mean, like I said I’ve made it before, but as this is the first time I’m talking about it here – I’m tellin’ ya it’s creamy-liscious! And really, agar is not that hard to work with, and it’s fast too!

Supah-creamy!

In fact, before it had totally thickened, I mixed a little with some chopped tomato and avocado to make it into a sort of ‘sauce’ and put it over my baked potato at dinner! YUMMERS! This mayo would be a PERFECT base for a low fat cream sauce by the way….Hm, I’ll be tryin that with it next time!

See that creamy white sauce? Mmmm!

I don’t have a final opinion on the miso mayo yet, cause it hasn’t thickened, but the flavor as a sauce is good! LOL! ;) I’m sure it’ll be just as good as a mayo once it’s done… I’ll let ya know!

In other foodie news:

The Beebits and I made purple pancakes this week! I did pink pancakes once for him, just because I’d gotten some new natural food colorings to try, and since then he wants colored ones! (We’ve also tried blue waffles!) The purple turned out pretty cool. :)

Mixing....

Happy lil helper!

He's so cute ... and yes, he has a crooked eye! :( He has another eye appointment this Friday because it's reverted, even though he's been wearing his glasses. :(

And… speaking of my fav Vegenaise, for lunch today I made a divine potato salad… Want to know what’s in there? I know you do! :) So it’s a mix of diced potato, halved grape tomatoes, chickpeas, red onion (love onion!), avocado, vegenaise, a lil veg broth (to avoid using too much ‘naise!), garlic, harbs and a dash of salt. It was phenomenal. A party in my mouth! You should try. :)

Lunch!

Sunny San Diego Weather update:

It was so nice out last week that the beebits and I went to the park… and though he’s in a sweatshirt, yes, it was warm enough for him to be in just boxers! (Boxers because he chose his own shorts lol!)

At the park in winter lol

I have to write this down, because it’s too cute… When the wee man wakes up from his sleeps & naps we always hop into ‘mommy’s bed’ and have a snuggle. Sometimes it’s close to an hour! Sometimes it’s just 5 minutes or so… Well he woke from his nap crying a little today.. and when I went in to get him he asked for a snuggle right away. So we climbed into my bed and snuggled up tight and here’s what he said (I literally teared up!)

  • Me, “Did you have a good sleep?”
  • Him, “Mmm Hmm”
  • Me, “You had a long sleep today.”
  • Him, “Yes… I crying.”
  • Me, “Yes, honey, you did cry… why did you cry? Were you sad?”
  • Him, “Yes, I sad.”
  • Me, “Why were you sad honey?”
  • He turns to look at me in my face and says, “I missed you.”

OMG. He is the sweetest lil man, I don’t think there’s even a way I could love him more!

I need to actually go pay some more attention to my lovey little man right now – he needs me :) And I wouldn’t want it any other way.
