Where’s my allowance?

This weekend was chores chores chores…. Well, with some leisure thrown in for sure, but still.  When I was a kid, I don’t remember anyone telling me that you still have to do chores (in fact, more of them!) as a grown up but that you don’t get any allowance for it either! Hmpf. I’d like to file a complaint…………

I find, today, that I have kind of a lot to say. So, today’s about chronicling some of my recent ‘moments’…

*********************************************************************

I only found out today and am quite bummed actually, that it seems there was a “Natural Products Expo West” this weekend and in Anaheim – only like 1 1/2 hrs drive! and I missed it completely.  Now, I’m not just about “natural”, but from what I’ve read there was an enormous showing of vegan foods, both little and well-known, and with tried and true AND new foods coming out. ACK! I’d have loved to be there! I was able to live vicariously through another blogger, quarrygirl (found a link from Chicago Soy DairyDandies anyone?) for her site and sat drooling over her latest post. Omg. You have got.to.check.this.out.

OHPLEASEOHPLEASEOHPLEASE let some of these wonderful goodies be making their way to San Diego soooooooon!

  • Vegan marshmallow Tweets (think Easter, think Peeps but not made of disgusting gelatin and hfcs like the “real” ones)
  • Gardein burgers!? Gardein is freaking AWESOME. Burgers!?
  • Fried Mozza Tease-sticks??
  • Daiya Pepperjack?!

So much more I can’t even list there’s too many, go read the post, OMG! There is so much upcoming for the world of “mainstreaming veganism”. (Note: This is not to say that I will switch to a processed food diet from the homemade things I do now.. but there are some FUN tasty things available and more coming that are both a treat for us AND a way for more and more people to transition to veganism. And cruelty free is the WAY TO GO, even if it’s a bit processed. I think. But hey that’s just my opinion ;)

Friday morning, when the Beebits got up from sleep, he says to me “Look happened!”, holding out his favorite stuffed toy, his precious Piggyboo… “He got a rip mommy.” And sure enough, Piggyboo had an inch long tear right down his chin! Oh no! I asked him how that happened and he didn’t know… lol. He asked if I could fix it, and I said I would try! I asked him if he’d like me to add a little more stuffing to Piggyboo while I was fixing, because lil Piggyboo was lookin a little flat lately! He’s very loved. (Piggyboo sleeps with the Beebits, goes to school with him, plays with him…) He said “Okay mommy.” So Friday night was surgery! And I couldn’t even believe it, after I’d stuffed some new fluff into Piggy’s belly to fatten him back up, and was sewing the chin tear, another rip opened up by his nose as I was working! Un-freaking-believeable! So I sewed that one back up too and went to looking for other weak spots. Poor lil Piggyboo seems to be ok now, but I started thinking about when/if he does rip again? We got he lil guy used as it was, and now he’s so loved… I’m afraid he won’t last… so I promptly went online looking for a Piggyboo backup. Gotta have a spare! He’s hard to find, lemme tell ya. Got lucky on barnes & Noble and ordered the set (apparently that’s how it comes) which is 3 books and the plush guy.  *Whew*!! Gotta have a backup plan mommies. Fo sho.

All plumped up, washed and sewn! Good as new :)

*********************************************************************

I was supposed to be working yesterday, doing a special project at work, but some product we were waiting for was delayed and so there was no need for me to go in. So I was like, “Huh. What am I going to do with out work all weekend?” Not like I didn’t have stuff to do… it just kinda threw of my ‘plan’ for my weekend. I had, seriously, like 5 loads of laundry to do, which isn’t a problem in itself, but when you’re in an apartment and have to coin laundry it, having a pile up kinda pins you to the house. But I wanted to go somewhere with a Saturday of? (I’ve been working a lot of Saturdays since about October).

So, like any good Momma, my momma suggests that Fri night (since I never go out on Fri nights) I start my laundry so Sat isn’t so tied down. She’s so smart! I did 2 loads Fri night- was doin’ laundry til like 10pm lol. Then I stayed up til 1:30 reading (The Vampire Diaries – yep, same as the show, which, incidentally, I think I like better than the books? Might be a first time…. the show is vastly different from the books.) and slept in Sat until 10 am. Niiiiiice. ;) Then, having decided to just bite the bullet and spend the money on a haircut, I went to a local ‘salon’ called The Electric Chair (very different, tattoo-parlor-ish kinda place, it was awesome) and got a trim cut like 5 inches taken off. And I LOVE it!

Before: Taken a few weeks ago..

After: Today, after I flat-ironed it, that way I'd normally do my hair...

From the back

Went from there to do a few errands, then came home, changed into a bathin suit – NO LIE – and went to the beach for an hour with some more Vampire Diaries. I have to admit, when we are able to move, I will miss the beach! It’s like a 5 min drive to this lil private beach on the harbor.. Omg. Beautiful day.

Once I got home from the beach, at like 4pm, I set in to do some more laundry, and clean my house a bit. Got lil man’s toys all picked up, vacuumed, and id 2 more loads of clothes. (One of which, I might add, was my cloth towels, and lil man’s cloth diapers – his ‘nighttime pants’ lol – and so takes two wash and two dry cycles, sou kinda counts as 2 loads in itself!). That left the kitchen and bathroom for Sunday chores. *sigh* It’s never done!

AND I have like 4 recipes waiting to test for Happy Herbivore‘s book, but have to make a grocery trip before I can even get started on them AND because of some paperwork error my foodstamps haven’t come in for March and I have no grocery money! SO the recipes have to wait til… tomorrow? Hopefully tomorrow. *more sighs* Lol! If it ain’t one thing it’s another.

*********************************************************************

Damn.

I missed my lil man this weekend. He was with his dad all weekend this weekend… he came home tonight at 6, but the ‘full weekends’ away are so hard for me.  I try to be positive about it and just work through, getting my chores and errands, etc. done.. just filling the time gap til he’s home to me again. I love my lil guy so much I just can’t even put it into words. I don’t think there are words.

First a sweet smile...

And then just plain SILLY! lol!

*********************************************************************

Of course we went to gymnastics class again Friday, and my lil guy had just as much fun as the previous week! In fact, he’s even learning how to to the ‘donkey kicks’ all by himself :) These kiddos have so much fun… runnin and playing, exploring the wonder of movement and music… What a wonder! They’re so much fun to watch! :)

Makin music with the sticks...

Hiding the sticks so Mr. Turtle can't eat them back up!

Still a fav... the swingin bar! Look at those muscles!

Drumming the mat durig the "Goodbye song"... Until next week!

*********************************************************************

Since I haven’t posted a food pic in awhile… AND I haven’t mentioned my love… here’s some yummiess to nomnomnom.

Lunch today, some lovely tofu shirataki noodles with nooch and soy curls!

OMG. I am still as obsessed with Soy Curls as the day I discovered them I was thinking today how perfect they’d be for fajitas.. or carnitas… or just warmed up and eaten right out of the pan. I mean, not like I’ve done that or anything… I’m just sayin. You could. *giggle*

The DAMN awesome quiche I made for my MOPs grup breakfast table a couple weeks ago (before cooking)

I make this quiche occasionally, mostly when I have people to impress cause it’s freaking amazing. And super versatile. This time I had the ingredients to make it to the letter, but you can sub veg ingredients for whateve you have on hand and that’s SO awesome. I have the desire to experiment with making a crustless version… Will let you know how that comes out. This exact one, though, I got from the Whole Foods customer submitted recipes, and is found here.

MMmmmmm.... don't you wanna KNOW? It's gooooooooooood too. I know I'm sucha tease! ;)

One of the recipes I’ve tested for HH‘s new book coming out. Nope, not tellin ya what it is, but it’s so good! *snicker*

*********************************************************************

OH! Ok so here’s another cutie thing my lil guy said today… Ok, so he loves to comb my hair. He’ll get ‘his comb’ and climb behind me and comb my hair. If it’s in a ponytail he’ll ask me to take it down. Cute. So today after his dad dropped him back off, he’d climbed up, comb in one hand, cup of juice/water in the other, set down the cup and was combing. Then he says “Just a little water…” and take up his cuup to behind my head and I said, “Um, no, no water.” and he goes “Just a little water” and I said, “Hney that’s not water, that’s your splash.” And (lol) he leans around to look at me in the face, shows me his cup and says “This a little water.” So I’m like, “Okay…” He takes the cup, kinda shakes it at the back of my head and says, “Okay, now comb” and he combs a little more.. then he pauses and says, (wait for it….) “Just a little smooch.” And plants a big ol kiss on the back of my head. **AWWWW!** All done. MAN did I look pretty. ;) I love it!

OH okay, okay, one more. So, normally, when I’m going to the bathroom, I don’t turn on the lights. Not even at night, most of the time, cause I leave the door open and there’s light from the kitchen or whatever… but since normally I also don’t get to go by myself, lil man’ll come in and turn on the light. I always tell him, especially when it’s daytime, “We don’t need the light honey, there’s plenty of light in here.” It’s a waste of electricity anyway, but his grasp of that concept is still tenuous, so I don’t go much into it. But anyway, once it’s dusk, or so, when he’s going, he always turns on the lights, and that’s fine. So today, when he had just gotten home, he’s run into the bathroom “I gotta go pee Mommy”, and it was kinda dusky out… and I said “Okay” and followed him in there, and as he’s standing on the stool, pushing his pants down, I flipped on the light. Habit, for him, ya know? So he stops working his pants and looks at me and says “Dont’ turn a light Mommy.” I said, “Oh, okay…” as I’m flipping it back off he looks at me all seriously and says “There’s plenty light in here.” LMAO! It’s all I can do sometimes not to just crack up hysterically at him. He uses my words back at me and it’s SO freaking adorable. Hahahah! I love it!

*sigh*  :)

*********************************************************************

Ok, well, speaking of the bathroom… I seriously have to pee AND I really have o get to sleep. Big day tomorrow. (Or Both of us are spending the night at my parnets house tomorrow, I’ll let ya know why after. :)

Goodnight! :)

Going to Dancing Class!

Yay! I’ve found a toddler gymnastics class for my wee lil man, on Friday mornings for the next six weeks! He’s so funny, I told him it was gymnastics, and he repeated me… then promptly started calling it “dancing class”! I’ve no idea why. :) Cute though, huh? Too funny, also, when he apparently told his dad that he had dancing class also, and hs dad’s like, “Um.” (to me of course…) Hehehehe. I swear he didn’t get that from me – I said gymnastics! It’s through a city rec center, so is pretty affordable, and THANK THE LORD we got a low income fee waiver, so I can even enroll him! It’s so cute! It’s put on by Superstar Gymnastics, here in San Diego – and I have to say that the teachers are terrific! They are SO good with the little kidlets, seriously. They have parachute games, and get to play/learn on the balance beam, swinging bar, spring board… all kinds of fun things. And it’s all done to music… I loooove this class! Yay Beebits!

Sitting at the parachute, waiting for the next game...

Learning how to do 'donkey kicks'!

Help from Miss KatieP on the balance beam - airplane arms out!

Now going alone!

Swing up and touch your toes to the bar! He did this without help even! So strong :)

Koala crawl....

Peek-A-Boo mommy!

I will update as the class goes on if I get anymore adorable lil pics. He had SO MUCH FUN, he didn’t want to leave. :)

***************************************************

In other cutie patootie news, my lil man ‘helped’ me wash our filthy car over the weekend… we drove to Meema and Beepa’s house Sunday morning to surprise them – he hadn’t got to see Meema in a couple weeks… It was such a beautiful day!

Helping mommy wash our nasty dirty car...

Such a good helper!

***************************************************

Ok, so, also, I’m currently helping test for a new vegan cookbook coming out by Happy Herbivore – and it has been SO MUCH FUN! I’ve never tested before, lemme say that it’s a great way to try new things – I’ve made some stuff that not only wouldn’t have occurred to me to make, but also some things that I maybe never would have even tried. So, 1. Congrats to HH on the new book AND 2. thank you so much for allowing me (and the Beebits!) to be a part! I may post some (vague) pics of things we make, or talk about yummies – though – for obvious reasons – I can’t be specific or actually post recipes… If you see something you like, you’ll have to wait for the book ;)

Lil man, supervising the new recipe I was testing out :) He's good at supervising, lol!

***************************************************

When I came home from work last Wednesday, and my OP was there with lil man… he says “He wants pizza for dinner.” Hm. We had no pizza?! So I pop into the kitchen to see what I can manage… Bread? Check. Tomato sauce? Check. Daiya mozza-style? Check. Awesome. I put some tomato sauce on two slices of wheat bread, sprinkled them with some garlic and herbs, topped with some Daiya and popped them into the broiler. VOILA! Lil ‘pizzas’. He was so excited!! *whew*! Thank the LORD for handing out innovation to us mommies when we need it!

Very happy with his pizza sandwiches!

***************************************************

I also have to write these down before I forget – some heart-meltingly cute things that he’s said to me recently. You know, I’ve read all the “Things Kids Say” emails… and heard stories of the darndest stuff that they come up with… and even heard my lil man say some pretty cute stuff. But I’m still constantly amazed by things he says that he thinks up all on his own. How he manages to get the context right, if not always the words… and how sensitive and sweet he can be! I love my little baby bear SO FREAKING MUCH!

** At naptime a few days ago… I laid him in his bed, and we prayed and I sang him a song… and he grabbed my hand and was just lying there holding my hand clutched to his chest for a minute (I had to leave for work), and he says, quietly, “Mommy, Can I keep you?” OMG, I almost cried!

** Yesterday I gave him some black salt marinated tofu, for a snack, and he ate it all.. and asked for more tofu. So I cut him a chunk of plain – since all the marinated was gone. And he comes back to me a few minutes later, hold his tofu piece out to me and says, “Can you marry it please?” LOL! Took me a minute to figure it out, but he wanted more marinade hahahaha! I always tell him when we have ‘marinated tofu’, so he’s obviously picked that up. So funny!

***************************************************

Coming soon – A post on something VERY IMPORTANT to me! I just got my wee lil man a new carseat, even though it’s expensive, because his safety is more important to me than almost anything else. And I want to talk about it. I have to spread the word – it needs to be important to everyone!!!! Stay tuned….. ;)

Our awesome new 'big boy' seat. :)

Cold Beach Day and Score at the Store!

Even when it’s a ‘cold day’ you can still enjoy the beach! I took the Beebits there today to enjoy some fresh air, since it’s finally stopped freaking raining!! He had a BLAST playing in the sand and getting it in all his nooks and crannies lol.

Up the "Mountain" he says...

Then time for clean up!

No more sand!

Good times were had by all…

SCORE OF THE DAY!

Ok, so I went back to Henry’s today to pick up some more Daiya, in case they realized they’d priced it WAY TOO LOW and changed it! Can’t have that can we?!? But seriously folks, $4.99? Um yeah, I got me 2 more bags and 2 bags for MVM! I. LOVE. DAIYA. PERIOD. (Have you tried it yet???? Get you some!)

Today's score...

Also picked me up some Shirataki noodles cause they ROCK also. I, as a general rule, so not eat pasta, but I do LOVE these shirataki ones, as well as kelp and kojac noodles. Since ‘miracle noodles‘ and the Konjac ones are kinda pricey and you have to ship… I settle for the tofu shirataki ones usually :)

AND, a container of the Coconut Secret Coconut Crystals.

SO good!

It’s really really like brown sugar, but is not ‘sugar’. It’s coconut sap kinda… anyway, it’s very good and sweet, but healthier alternative for sugar. And since I usually use stevia to sweeten, it’s really for the occasional use. This would be my whole second time trying them out…and I LOVE it! (Get you some of this too. No, really.)

Oh yeah and some Mocha ice cream (the Beebits for a lil vanilla one), HEY, I said I was resolving to cut sugar out, I haven’t conquered it yet. Though I must say, there are some awesome fruit sweetened ice creams that I so love but my Henry’s doesn’t carry them and I wasn’t driving to Whole Foods today for it :)

Omigawd it’s late and I’m tired. It’s been a VERY stressful week – I’ve been doing a TON OF RESEARCH and paperwork on something that I can’t quite post about yet, but soon. Soon soon soon ;) KATIE knows though, right?? ;) Lol.. yep she was privileged to find out early.. Shhhhhhh. Y’all will hear about it tomorrow, or maybe Tuesday. :)

Well, goodnight cruel world… LOL, not really, how’s just about Goodnight world! : þ

Time Flies When You’re Having….. Fun?

Omigawd, I canNOT believe it’s January 8th already! Were the heck did the first week of 2011 go? I feel so behind. Wait, that’s because I am so behind! *sigh* Ok, let me start over, shall I?

(January 1, 2011)

HAPPY VEGANNIVERSARY TO ME!

So January 1 is (was lol) my one year anniversay of transitioning to full vegan! You know, I have to admit, I was a very strict vegetarian before my transition for… over a year maybe, at least a year anyway, so the ‘full’ transition wasn’t all that hard for me. Over the last year I have become more aware of the issues with cruelty in our country, in the food and fashion industries especially, so my choice to remain vegan, although still a good-health choice, has become a lot more about living compassionately than it was in the beginning!

I look forward to many more years of vegan healthiness, and raising my lil Beebits as a compassionate vegan too! Thanks to all my family and blogging friends who have supported me and from whose brains I have picked fun ideas and recipes too!

New Years Eve was a bit anti-climactic for me… I have he Beebits of course, so after he went to bed, bout 7:45, I sat to vega  ltitle and watch some (online) tv… I told myself I’d stay up ‘past my bedtime’ (usually about 10-10:30) but wasn’t planning on staying up til midnight at all! By the time I managed to watch my shows, wash brush and get into bed though it was like 11:47. And then I had a hard time (every night lately *sigh*) falling asleep, so it was probably after midnight when I finally fell asleep anyway.

What’s really the point when you’re home alone anyway? Go into the bathroom, look into the mirror and Say, “Happy New Year Self!” Right. So… I didn’t see the big loss in not having ‘made it’. If the Beebits had been with his dad, I’d have probably been with a friend or friends and would have done it – but alone… I see no point.

New Years Resolutions… Hm…. Yep, I’ve been working on that. ONE, big one is still a secret, I’ll try to post on that Monday or Tuesday though. My big one, kinda, is that I’m going to work on cutting out sugar from my diet. At least processed sugars anyway.. I do still use, and plan to keep using, albetit sparingly, some agave and very rarely honey… as well as sweetening with stevia.  But I need to get sugar out of my daily diet. I feel better, am healthier, happier, have more energy and am overall more vibrant when I don’t eat the damn stuff, and I just have to make this work. I was recently referenced to this book called The Sugar Addict’s Total Recovery Program, by Kathleen DesMaisons Ph.D., and in reading through it, I have discovered that I am most definitely a sugar-sensitive body type and need to completely re-think how i relate to food and sweets. This book is amazing, I’d recommend it to EVERYONE. Whether you thin kyou have a ‘need’ for it or not. You will learn stuff. Important stuff, about how to relate to yourself and others. It’s awesome! Life changing stuff here folks. So that’s my biggest ‘resolution’.

(January 4, 2011)

I’m a Giveaway Winner!

I entered a giveaway on Joni Marie Newman’s blog, Just The Food, for a free copy of her latest book, The Complete Guide to Vegan Food Substitutions. And, I won! Ack! I was so excited! Wait… I am so excited! I love this book already. There are so many awesome recipes… I can’t wait to try her hot dog and Eggs Benedict recipes! Seriously, Eggs Benedict is one of the thing I miss THE MOST since being vegan. Not even kidding around here, I canNOT wait to try making this :) Thank you Joni!!!!

Baby Surprise!

I got a surprise in the mail last week too…. well, a few days ago anyway and I didn’t say THANK YOU. So… THANK YOU CCK FOR MY HOT CHOCOLATE BABIES!!!!!! Wow. I have to say, that although I’ve made my own babies a bunch of times, hers tasted better! Maybe it’s mental, lol, maybe having them by the Baby Creator really makes THAT much difference. I don’t know what it was but OMG. These grubby mitts were ALL over those babies, and in a matter of hours they were gone. :( Sad. No more babies. I’ll have to make MORE!!! Yay and yay and THANK YOU again Katie! You’re so darn sweet. :) Note: No, there is no picture because I seriously just gobbled them all up before I had a chance to take one! *giggle*

Edit to add this picture, because they did come in a really CUTE "Love Chocolate" box! But yeah, no more babies, lol.

Awesome Green (Brown) Smoothies

SO, my new VitaMix has been burnin a spot in my counter *giggle*… I’ve made their recipe for ‘ice cream’ called Mixed Nut Freeze, which is AWESOME (though definitely best right away cause if you freeze any it gets VERY hard and kinda icy), I have made a Peach/Banana sorbet kind of thing, and now this week… bak to Green smoothies! I am in LOVE with my VitaMix. I can put ALL of my ingredients, frozen fruit and all, into this bad boy and (no joke) 45 seconds later, I have a beautifully blended wonderful creamy smoothie. *Died and gone to smoothie heaven!*

My new fav is:

He's so silly :)

Kinda purple, kinda brown

“It’s a Brown Smoothie, Mommy”

  • 2 c fresh pure water
  • 100 g organic baby spinach
  • 75-100 g organic frozen blueberries
  • 250 g organic frozen strawberries
  • 200-250 g fresh banana (frozen would be fine too I’m sure)
  • 2-4 (tiny!) scoops of stevia (you know the miniscule scoop thast comes with the powder? That one. :) )
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract (optional but good)

Blend all ingredients until smooth. Enjoy! The Beebits and I had this the day before yesterday and we LOVED it. It was enough for me to have a big glass, him to have a small glass and a mason jar’s worth in the fridge which I had later. SO FREAKIN GOOD! The Beebits was drinking his and (because of the blueberries it was a dark purple-brown color, not actually ‘green’) and he looks down at his glass and says suddenly “It’s brown, Mommy!” Yep, lol, it’s brown ;) Yummy brown!

Smoothie's all gone, Mommy! (The pink pancakes we made that day too are in the background there :)

Score of the year! (So far, anyway!)

My local Henry’s store has begun carrying Daiya. In both flavors. Now, up til yesterday I had only been able to find it at our local Whole Foods Market, which was fine, it’s only an enery-now-and-then treat anywayBUT now my Henry’s has it too and it was not $6.99 or $5.99 (like at WF), but $4.99 for an 8oz package of the shreds. That’s an OMG fantastic price! I called up MVM and was like, Um, “Got Daiya?”  Hahahah! I grabbed 2 bags for a treat for both of us :) Henry’s you ROCK!

***

Ok, time to hit Publish on this thing and be done for today… all this buildup from missing my posts for a freakin week and I feel like I’ve got diahrrea of the blog HAHAhahaaah, yeah so what this post is a rambling babbling disorganized ‘run’ of information? It’s my blog, I’ll have the runs if I want to. Wait. Wel,l that sounded better in my head but whatever LOL!

Love y’all and hope to hear from you! Sorry I lagged this last week, NO MORE! Shoot, I have a Beebits right? I always have something to write about ;) Hey, there’s another resolution… write more about MY BEEBITS! The stories are ever plentiful and ALWAYS entertaining. :) So there’s somethin to look forward to!

See y’all on the flip aside ;)

Happy New Years Eve!

Happy New Year to me!!!! I got a PACKAGE TODAY! OMG, what could it be??

It’s a BUNCH of goodies from VeganSunshine! Wow! I won her goodie giveaway earlier this month, and today I received my goodies… WOW! I never expected this, thanks SO MUCH!! (I can’t wait til i can do a giveaway… though I don’t know how many people would really participate HAhaahah! Soon, I hope!!!)

My goodness, look at all that GOODness!

Almonds, sunflower seeds, pure fruit strips, a variety of teas, a cookies’n'cream Luna bar (*drool*) and some Justin’s Maple Almond butter and Chocolate Peanut Butter. OMG. (Which, by the way I’ve never heard of before – but they are G.O.O.D.!!!!

I can’t wait to try those teas, I LOVE fruity iced herbal teas…esp green teas! And I have to admit I won’t be eating the Stretch Island fruit strips because theyre’ the Beebit’s favorite! I’ll kinda have to share those with him :) Treats for me AND for the Beebits – What a double special surprise! :) The Justin’s nut butters… I have to confess. They’re already gone. *giggle* I squeezed that nutty buttery goodness over some vanilla ice cream for my New Years Eve treat, thank you so much again Whitney!!

The Beebits and I splurged today for a pizza treat for New Years Eve too… WOW are we blessed to have a ZPizza within delivery distance??? Well yes ma’am we are! And does ZPizza offer a large, vegan pizza delivered to your DOOR for like $25? Yes Ma’am they do! Pretty unbelievable huh?

ZPizza

*munch munch munch*

Well believe it baby… the Berkeley Vegan is their menu option for us Veggies ND they use DAIYA.

I subbed a few things but I did have this ONE other time, just they way the menu presents it and it was GOOD!

Mmmmm ..... There's enough left for lunch AND dinner again tomorrow!

O.m.g. Of course, you can customize your pizza too, and I’m sure you could even choose a different style of veg-ish pizza and just have them sub the cheese or Daiya, I can’t imagine them saying no ;)

I also got some Zevia Twist (lemon lime) at the store, and some dessert treats that the Beebits and I could share for our ‘celebration’ (Um yeah he’s in bed by 7:45 tonight and I’m sittin here alone, celebration? Hell yeah it’s an excuse to order a pizza and have my last ice cream for a long while! *giggle*). The Beebits was SO excited to have pizza and ‘bubbly’!

Pizza smile!

And for dessert…… I don’t give the Beebits chocolate (yet), because I just don’t think it’s necessary. But I have allowed him carob on occasion, and he loves it! I think it’s a good thing to get little tastebuds accustomed to carob young, because once they get hooked on chocolate it’s much harder. If you eat carob expecting it to taste like chocolate you will be disappointed. It is different. So I’d rather use carob for his ‘brown sweets’ LoL, and get him used to it. (Note: I know for a act that his male parental gives him whatever he (“he” being the parental, not the Beebits) wants, including chocolate, but all I can do is my best when he’s with me, right? Right.)

Yum!

I let him help me pick out an ice cream that we could share and we ended up with French Vanilla, by Soy Dream this time, and then I got a bag of vegan carob chips which I sprinkled on his 1/4 cup of ice cream. He had that with about 6 Vanilla ‘Snackimals‘ (organic animal cookies!) and watched some Boz. Talk about lil man heaven. :)

Well y’all, it’s time for me to completely veg out and get in some brain numbing television (I watch online, not cable so can see whatever I want whenever I want!), let go of the stress of the past week and consume some completely unnecessary sugar. :) Which will be the last for awhile, which I’ll expound on tomorrow!!! :)

Have a safe and wonderful New Years Eve everyone!! I doubt I’ll even make it to midnight :)

I’ll post on my resolutions(s) tomorrow… but until then, do you have any New Years Resolutions? Feel like sharing? :)

While Foods Trips & Treats!

SO, I got to go to Whole Foods this week, to exchange a couple of items, and since I was there I ‘window shopped’! You know, that place is SO fun to ‘shop’ at, even when you don’t have any money? I just walked up and down aisles (I didn’t have the Beebits with me) and looked at stuff… there were things I didn’t know they carried… that I didn’t know existed! It’s so much fun! I was able, this time, to get a couple fun things… so I’ll fill you in on my treats!!!

MMmmm!

I got a 6 pack of the newest Zevia flavor, Dr. Zevia! I was SO excited to discover they’d finally come out with this one, so I had to try it! I also snagged a package of shredded Daiya, Mozza Style, and a Jokerz bar, made by Go Max Go, which is like a Snickers for vegans. OMG. Three awesome treats! (I also got the Beebits some new bubble bath – one of the exchanges – and some pretzels too, since they’re the only place that carries an organic unsalted pretzel!)

May I just say, that although I love Zevia, and I do like this new Dr. Zevia, I don’t think it’s a close enough match to sway a hard core Dr. Pepper lover (like, *ahem* my OP), who needs to lay off! I was hoping to give OP some of it for Christmas, but after having tasted it, I don’t think he’ll like it. I may try him on one just to see, but I’m hot optimistic lol.

A treat I got to make already with my Daiya (I SAVOR the times I get to have it in the house, cause it’s not that terribly often!) was a super ooey-gooey-cheezy quesadilla w/scallions! OMG. (Have I ever mentioned that I think scallions go with pretty much everything? Well, everything savory that is *wink*)

Pre-melt stage...

Since it was a special treat ‘n all, I went ALL out and made a big ‘ol bad ass two tortilla quesadilla! I put my 1st tortilla in a dry pan to crisp it while the cheez melts…then topped it w/another tortilla n flipped that bad boy over… Oh yeah. Come to momma you!

Look at that yummy McYummerton!

Oh yeah baby, ooey gooey YUMMY!

Man was it delicious! You gotta try this stuff, seriously. It’s the melty-est, gooy-est yummy vegan cheez ever! (Disclaimer: There are vegan cheez’s I haven’t tried, but of the ones I have, this is the best for gooey melty-ness!)

In other adorable news…. I got our Christmas pics back!! Look at my precious lil man :) Isn’t he sweet?!

Love it!

Isn't he the cutest ever!?? Wow am I blessed. He is my angel :)

I am so excited, one of his (very few) Christmas gifts arrived today, in time for Christmas too! It’s a brand I’d never heard of til last week, but now LOVE … ever heard of Sprig? Well check ‘em out! They’re made of Sprigwood, which is this trademarked stuff they make themselves, of recycled plastic and reclaimed sawdust. So they’re kinda like wood…. and they’re all battery-free, paint free… eco-friendly, earth friendly, kid-friendly toys! And they’re SO darn cute! I cant wait to see what the Beebits thinks of his. :)

And for an arts ‘n crafts moment… You know, making people homemade gifts is fun. AND, when you haven’t much in the way of resources, is a necessity! I did have a lot of fun this year making cutie patootie snow-people for some dear friends and coworkers… who doesn’t love something homemade? To all of you with new lil snow-people additions to your houses, they were time consuming, but each was made with love and with recipient in mind. So they’re kinda personalized… and all unique! :)

My lil snowman army...

Psssssst, I’ll fill you in on a little secret… it’s just lil socks (the Beebits gave up like 5 pairs of socks and he doesn’t even know it!) filled with rice! tie a knot, tie a scarf… paint on some magic and you have cute squatty little snowguys. Try it, it’s fun! :) I learned them in my MOPs group last year and was hooked!

Ok y’all, I’m beat! I have to  get to bed, but I wanted to post before the day got away from me again! Merry 2 days til Christmas!!!
